Today and through this week we’re excited to share, and show, the first details of what you can expect when Halo Infinite’s free-to-play multiplayer experience arrives later this year on Xbox and PC. Microsoft surprises with early Halo Infinite multiplayer launch todayMicrosoft surprised Xbox enthusiasts today by releasing Halo Infinite multiplayer early. Thankfully, the devs have made sure to welcome new and old players alike and have introduced the Spartan Academy. Last week, rumors began to circulate that we were going to see an early release of the multiplayer happening today. Go Through the Academy While brute-forcing your way into a match with a shotgun is one strategy, it might not get you far if you’ve never played Halo before. Halo’s Arena has and continues to be defined by fair starts and teams working closely to control key areas of a map while utilizing the sandbox in the most impactful. Today's surprise drop may not have actually come as a surprise at all to some of you. At the core of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer offering is the Arena, which once again pits two teams of four Spartans against each other in a variety of new and returning modes. Again, this release is free-to-play while the campaign retails for $60 (USD). Halo Infinite's multiplayer is available right now on PC via Steam or the Microsoft Store, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. As part of the celebration, Halo developer 343 Industries released a playable beta for Halo Infinite ‘s multiplayer mode. Rumors surfaced of the free multiplayer portion of Halo Infinite would go live on the 20th anniversary of the legendary franchise. This multiplayer was originally slated to release alongside the campaign on December 8, 2021. This release is totally free-to-play for everyone, regardless of whether or not you plan to purchase the story campaign. To close out today's Xbox 20th anniversary event, Microsoft and 343 Industries surprised fans with an early release of the Halo Infinite multiplayer.
